This year’s holiday was a crash course in relaxing and being happy.

We had three trips, all short: a weekend by the sea, a week camping in Silesia, and a day trip to Energylandia without the kids.

There were better and worse moments, but now that I’m back to my normal routine of life and work, I notice that when things get stressful, when we’re in too much of a hurry, or when I’m unhappy with how things are going, I try to remember those moments from the holiday: walking down the steps to the beach hand in hand, waking up in the tent in the morning and only then starting to think about what we’d do that day. I managed to mentally let go of the pressure to make the most of that time. I was happy whether we got to more attractions that day or just wandered around somewhere and spent time together.

Now, when things get too stressful and I think about those moments, first I remember that our family life also has these lovely, sun-filled moments, and also that if I let go of trying to get as much done as possible all at once and simply enjoy today, that’ll be fine too.
